The Killing Joke Trailer is Here!

“I want to talk…” about how amazing this looks and how excited I am. When Warner Brothers announced this last year, I literally lost my shit. One of my all time favorite Batman / Joker stories by the insanely talented Alan Moore and Brian Bolland is coming to animated life!

The official release is unknown but those lucky enough to go to San Diego Comic-Con this year will get to see the film in all its glory. Then, it’s heading straight to DVD and Blu-ray. For us Batman: The Animated Series fans, we will see the memorable return of Kevin Conroy, Mark Hamill, Tara Strong, and Ray Wise.

This will be DC Animated’s first R-rated film, which is exciting. I want them to follow the Joker’s darkest tale. My only concern is that with some of the disturbing torture scenes, DC may be toning it down. Sure, it’s controversial but it’s how the story goes. They have also been said to be adding some more narrative.

For those of you that don’t know, this is based off of Alan Moore’s The Killing Joke back in 1988, which is considered one of the best Joker stories ever written. There is a general agreed consensus on the origin story of the Joker himself but it also perfectly depicts the obsession of the duo. It’s dark, it’s gritty and hell, tons of people complain of the scene with Barbara, Gordon, and the Clown Prince, but it’s a work of tragic art. Anyone can have “one bad day.”
